Nyepi: Balinese New Year Nyepi literally means quiet in the Balinese language and is the name of Balinese
New Year celebrated approximately once every 420 days. In this occasion, the devotees
abstain from food, drinks, human speech as well as the lighting of fires or lamps.
The island is unusually quiet as all business, including the Ngurah Rai Bali International
